I was born third of seven children to Ed Hargis and Betty Varner Hargis. We lived in a small town called Soddy Daisy, TN, just twenty miles North of Chattanooga. I graduated Soddy Daisy High School and received an Associates Degree in business and accounting at Chattanooga State Technical College. After several different jobs I finally obtained a position with a general contractor on all developments, including spec homes, apartment communities, and commercial buildings. My career with this developer took me into many different fields of the real estate industry. I received certifications as a CAM and CPM. During this time I served on the Chattanooga Apartment Association as Secretary, Treasurer and President for several terms.
My
first trip to the Smokies
was in 1965 and I remarked "I will live here one day".
It took thirty years
to make that dream
come true. I wasn't
sure exactly what I
was going to do, but
I figured the Real
Estate market would
be very difficult to
break into, so I started
selling Timeshare.
My friends and co-workers,
introduced me to Tom
Montgomery, whom I
married. Tom was a
Realtor with Gatlinburg
Real Estate. After
Tom and I were married,
I started selling general
real estate. What a
difference! I began
selling to fun people
on vacation and investment
properties, and what
a better place to do
this than in the Great
Smoky Mountains.
I currently reside off N321 East Parkway in the Cobbly Knob area. I have three children and seven grandchildren. I have certainly been blessed.
